A type of wine | Refošk |
Refošk is the king of Istrian wines and there is no hero who would dispute that. He has the right to a homeland in Istria, and the people here love and appreciate him. Due to its characteristics, it offers quite a wide range of different styles of wines that can be produced from it. With the white label, we want to present the typical refošk, which Istrian people are most used to and love the most. This means intensely colored, full and rich with a pleasant perceptible varietal acidity, which is harmoniously integrated into its wine whole. It may be a bit rustic, but we want it to be that way because it takes us back to the times of its greatest glory, when it was not as well known beyond the borders of our Istria as it is today.
Description of the wine
The very first impression makes it clear that we are dealing with the king of the dark. It is characterized by a deep and extremely intense ruby red color. On the nose, it is ripe, with black berries in the foreground, blackberry in the foreground, and some raspberry and black pepper. The initial contact in the mouth is soft, almost sweet, although the taste continues with firm tannins, the impression of softness continues and extends into the aftertaste, which is intense and rich.
It goes well with traditional accompaniments in the form of prosciutto and sheep's cheese, and if it is drizzled with olive oil, all the better. In short, cured meats, freshly baked bread and sufficiently mature cheese are winning trumps, but it certainly also goes well with various types of grilled meat.
