Amaro lucano, born in 1894, is based on a secret recipe passed down from generation to generation within the Vena family. Due to the delicate mixture of more than 30 different herbs, it has a distinct taste, ideal for all occasions.
During the production process, special attention is paid to the ripening stage, at this stage the soaking process is left for a long time. During this process, the flavor acquires its final, balanced and strong taste of citrus and flower petals, protected by the amaro lucano mark. They choose only the best herbs from around the world; they are dried naturally and thus create a perfect aromatic balance. They are then mixed and condensed into a series of hydroalcoholic solutions made from pure alcohol and water. The mixture is then placed over a temperature-controlled bath (55°c/60°c) overnight. The infusion is then mixed to obtain an extract. They then perform laboratory tests and age the extract for five months. The hydroalcoholic solution is then created in a large barrel by mixing pure alcohol, essential oils, water, aged extract, sugar, caramel and adding water. The bitters are then carefully filtered and the amaro is ready for bottling.
